UST’s $1 billion BTC reserve is private capital and has nothing to do with the network itself.

This is why I didn't like it when a similar proposal came to back HBD. HIVE's version could have been far more decentralized. But that is still added complexity and an additional attack vector. It is best to keep everything simple yet robust.
