I have been living off crypto for over three and a half years now and started blogging for crypto in June 2017. You could say that I'm breathing crypto, almost more than air. Be careful, it's addictive.

Hive is so much more than just a blog chain ( pun intended ). There's loads of different communities - often with their own separate tokens - and there's a variety of ways to create more - or less passive - income streams. Ways to create a side income, next to blogging.

These days, my Hive engine token wallet ( everything aside from my Hive coins ) starts to fill up nicely. And, where I previously didn't have much faith in most of these tokens, this is starting to change. I'm witnessing the development going on in a bunch of communities from close by. And people like @taskmaster4450 help me to filter and understand much that's happening around here, on an almost daily basis. It makes me increasingly more excited about the future of this space and the future of cryptocurrency in general.

Back to Writing on LeoFinance

Lately, most of my posts have been centered around my creativity, focusing on my art. I didn't post on LeoFinance, as my content - even my recent Bitcoin Bull run art - didn't seem to fit in here. I made some attempts in the recent past to write content specifically for Leo - but it all felt too far-fetched, out of place. And, more importantly, not creative enough.

Today is different though. I have been lurking in the shadows of this community - frequently stepping out of the dark, to leave a comment on a blog post or to chat on Discord - for a couple of months now. Now it's time to step into the light again.

My shift to focusing mainly on this particular tribe was caused by the decreasing value of Hive ( and the increasing value and work behind the scenes of LEO ). It was an attempt to set up several income streams on the Hive blockchain.

This strategic move - that I wrote about here - co-incided with my entry into the NFT Showroom community, first as a collector, then as an artist.

Selling and buying NFT Art.

Today I want to talk about one of the ways in which I earn crypto on Hive these days. For this I have to thank the Alien Art Hive Community and, more importantly, NFT Showroom.

As a creative ( a writer, someone who loves to draw and a film maker on a hiatus ), it was only a matter of time before I'd be drawn to trying my hand on NFT art.

It still took me much longer than 'd like to admit though, as I had to overcome my low self-esteem and wrestle my demons first I'm-not-an-artist-merely-a-creative believe and just go for it.

This morning I opened my NFT Showroom page, on Hive and discovered that @richardfyates has bought another work of mine, as depicted above this post. It's a drawing that I created and put up for sale yesterday.

When working on it, I felt he might like it and it appears I was right. Cheers Richard!

There's 4 more editions of eel-over-the-place for sale HERE, for those interested.

4 out of 10

Talking about the number 4... This is the 4th work that I've sold on NFT Showroom, so far. Four out of ten of my minted pieces have been bought by other artists or art collectors.

Not too bad a score, if you ask me. Especially knowing that I don't promote my work on other ( social ) media. I already feel eel-over-the-place. Can't deal with more media. I merely write a blog post on every new creation, here on Hive and that's it.

Selling yet another work - even if it's only for 22 Hive ( currently a little less than 3 dollars ) motivates me to keep going. This, plus the fact that I love to create stuff. Being paid for it is kind of a bonus.

If I'm totally honest, it isn't making me rich yet. Far from that. I'm hardly breaking even.

Today I made a rough calculation and came up with the following numbers:

My first steps taken in the NFT Showroom community: 3 months ago. My first digital art piece put up for sale: 6 weeks ago. Tokenized art pieces in those 6 weeks: 10 Art pieces bought by me in these 3 months: 8 Works of art sold in 6 weeks: 4 Amount of Hive spent on buying art ( 195 ) + putting my art up for sale (70): Total 265
Amount of Hive made by selling my art: 210

55 Hive to get to break-even-point.

FYI, Hive is currently worth around 13 dollar cents, so we're talking about 25 to 30 dollars in sales and buys here and bout 7 dollars to break even.

Now this might not seem like much to you, but money in crypto, especially when invested wisely, can grow massively over time. Bitcoin keeps proving this again and again and the last months have been a great example of this.

My Second Bull Run

Talking about Investing

I tend to spend more than I make in most things that I do but, then again, this is only the start and you usually need to make an investment – in time and money - before your work starts paying off.

If I were merely doing this for the money, I should probably move to another NFT art gallery. A place where I'm being paid in Ethereum. But then I'll have to deal with Gas fees, which isn't much fun either. This move will have to wait for now. I think I'll give it a try somewhere next year. NFT Showroom is a great place to learn and grow and I like a bunch of people that hang out there. So, for now, this suffices.

If you're still here, I hope that the above has been insightful for you. If you want to know more about NFT Showroom, here's an extensive tutorial, the ultimate guide to NFT Showroom created by prolific digital artist @stellabelle

If I feel like it, I might make this into a series. Next up will be my experience with - and investment in - Hive Gaming so far.
