Hi HODLers,

CBDC have been a hot and controversial topic for the past years. There are currently 17 countries, including Russia and China, that are currently piloting a CBDC, while 33 nations are developing one (US, Japan...).

What is this role about?

They opened 3 roles recently but the one I am talking about is for a Senior Application Architect.

The person hired will play a critical role in both designing a CBDC and overseeing its development

I have to acknowledge that the Federal Reserve is taking an open approach to try to develop its own offering and that the FED of San Francisco is probably the most competent on the subject

“Given the dollar’s important role, Federal Reserve System seeks to further understand the cost and benefits of the potential technologies for central bank digital currencies,”

It has now gathered 24 applications.

CBDC goes on to claim that they have the “feel of a start-up,” and that this Senior Application Architect role lists a salary range of between $134,900 and $215,400.

Let me tell you about this wage. It can seem like a great wage in 99% of the world but for this type of skills and responsabilities it is proabbly underpaid for the Bay area.

This would be a 30-35 years old salary for a software engineer in a small/medium company! Alphabet, Amazon or Apple would pay you probably 50% more!

In any case, it is good for the overall industry if more crypto based engineers are working with the FED to either develop CBDCs or make them understand why cryptocurrencies are needed and working.

What are you thinking about this
