In crypto burn means to "get rid of", by sending to null or another place where the tokens will not be used and are usually destroyed.

The point is to take them out of circulation so they can't be purchased or sold again (reducing the overall supply)

In crypto there is a lot of focus on reducing supply and not nearly enough focus on increasing demand.

So, Alpha is advocating to reduce supply by burning tokens, which is pretty meaningless without adding to demand as well.
