Anxiety, tension is getting worse by the day for residents in select cities in Nigeria because of the Naira notes scarcity issue. It is crazy because it was all jokes and 'surviving the difficult times' like we're used to as a country, until the protests began and banks started getting burnt.

I'm really confused as to how it went from 100 to a 1000 in no time. The perpetrators of these acts clearly have another agenda. What would burning the banks and killing people really do? How are you going to get the new notes when it eventually comes?

Getting by without physical cash in a place where a cashless policy is not efficient is hard enough, dealing with violence and killings in a supposed 'protest' against the apex and commercial banks has put people in constant flight mode nationwide.

It doesn't help my mental health that I'm in one of the most controversial states right now, with the governor being at the center of the Naira scarcity drama and the topic of a conspiracy theory. Yesterday, it was said that tight security was deployed to the central Bank HQ in the state, as well as some other banks after an intel of impending violence was communicated.

The thing with this place is, when shit wants to go down, it goes down real bad. The country is hard as it is and insecurity being in the mix makes us question our safety. Reports said kidnappers have been on the roads sharing the old notes in traffic, they've also asked to receive their ransom in Cameroonian currency.

All of this politicking by the elephants up there really is hitting us the citizens hard, certainly, the central bank governor must have seen all these coming but obviously didn't care because when did leaders start caring about our well-being? 🤷‍♀

It hasn't been calm in Nigeria but the recent happenings because of the Naira scarcity and the coming elections coupled with the standard violence in some states, all going on at the same time, is total chaos.
