Financial celebrity status...
There's a video trending on Nigerian Twitter about Nigerian celebrities earning money through high-class prostitution and then flaunting their wealth on social media. Image Source I had a similar conversation with a friend of mine about a week ago about this same topic and we already concluded that these things happen and it's also the only reasonable way to explain the kind of wealth they flaunt on social media.
I also have an old friend of mine who's now within the celebrity status and was known a couple of years back for having sex with a lot of men during her years at Uni. She got the whole celebrity status and a couple of months later, she had a Brazillian Butt Lift. She's quite wealthy now and lives a fancy life.
Within my circle of friends, we usually discuss these topics not only about these celebrities but also about random ladies and guys who just seem so wealthy out of absolutely nothing.
I do the most I can by talking to my friends about how irrelevant it is to worship these celebrities and the things they do. I've talked them out of holding onto certain ideologies just because a random celebrity says it.
People tend to fall for what wealthy people say just because they believe that if they listen to these people, they'll possibly get as wealthy as they are but that hardly happens. Not many people reveal the secret behind their wealth and if we're being honest, not a lot of people are honestly gaining wealth.
It can get quite frustrating as well when you consider how hard a lot of people work with no recognition and limited progress yet people who are less talented earn more through dishonest and morally demeaning paths and are praised.
In the end, I understand the need to fast-track progress in any way possible. Life is hard so I understand needing to make it easier.
