Here's why I think cats are gold-diggers

I woke up this morning with the hopes of writing about dogs and crypto but it appears cats are still in the lead.

Ellen Degeneres made a pretty lofty sale of some of the silliest NFTs I've ever come across so far. For some reason, the world might not consider this sale "lofty", however, considering the fact that the amount acquired from that satiric sale was for a charity, I guess a lot of people expected more.

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) have been the talk of the media for a period of time, with a recent controversy surrounding Andrae Oshea and an image of the late Chadwick Boseman and a number of other sales by celebrities.

Ellen's recent NFT sale worth $30,955 proves 2 things:

- People will buy anything as long as there's a celebrity figure involved.

Unfortunately, as much as you'd like to make yourself believe that the purchase might have something to do with the charity mentioned, I'm insensitive enough to believe it has absolutely nothing to do with a central food relief kitchen of the world (or whatever).

@thattallfamily on Twitter purchased the monologue for $14,555 and was rewarded with a digital copy of Ellen holding the image of her drawing of a stick cat titled "woman with stick cat" and also received a signed hard copy of the same image.

The buyer claims to have done that for an increase in followers.

The other sales made were 4 out of the 10 pictures of 'woman with stick cat' at $2,500 and 64 sales of the digital copy of 'woman with stick cat' at $100 each.

- Ellen doesn't seem to have a lot of senseless followers after all.

Although there was minimal publicity on this sale, Ellen Degeneres currently has 79 million followers on Twitter. She made a tweet about this sale and made a lot less than people projected.

This might come off as absurd from different angles, however, maybe her followers are not as irrational as she would have hoped.

Nevertheless, maybe in a situation where she actually creates a better piece for a proper sale, I bet she'd end up swimming in more millions.

She claimed she did all this out of intrigue for the NFT craze and in a bid to understand how it works and teach people how it works.

Well, if that was her goal, she sure as hell achieved it.
