How free are you?

I think among all my group of friends I'm the most liberal. This is weird because I have 2 close friends in one location and 3 close friends in another. So that's sort of like a group of 6 and I happen to be the only one who's more open to trying stuff.

This isn't to say that my girlfriends don't try things, they just have to think a lot before doing them and if these things even derail a little from average morality, they immediately have second thoughts about it and most times they drop the idea immediately. source I, on the other hand, get intrigued and curious about immoral things. I'm laughing at that statement because it sounds casually demonic. However, my mind doesn't drift to how "immoral" an act is but how much fun I could have from the act.

For instance, the conversation could be as simple as having a one-night stand or staying out all night clubbing until 5 am the next day. What goes through my mind is "this could be fun", however, my friends start thinking "what if he's s serial killer", "what if the club gets raided by the police", or some other horror movie sort of action.

I know there's a possibility these things could happen. But my mind just goes "what if these things don't happen and I miss out on a fun experience?". Most times, nothing bad happens and I miss out on fun experiences!

For the most part, I understand their reservations however, I think it just results in too many restraints over time and a lack of adventure due to a fear of "what if?" on the negative side.

Freedom to me is cheap. While we may be limited by financial factors, and sometimes even health, I think releasing your mind to perform certain tasks is a right that society, family and religion have taken away from us. Especially in Nigeria.

There's so much talk every day about a decay in morals and how kids and young adults have forgotten their roots but they miss a vital part.

There are a lot more self-made rich young people now than there were in the times of our Gen X and millennial parents.

In the time of my parents, people achieved wealth and financial security by first kissing ass with the Governments. This isn't to say that self-made wealth wasn't achieved, but it was rare.

The crazy part is that it was a lot easier then because so many industries were only just beginning to have a taste of industrialization.

Right now, there's barely room in the industries of their time and even the tech industry that's the current craze of our generation is being trooped into every day.

I was watching a video yesterday and the co-founder of Y Combinator talked about how an idea means nothing in Silicon Valley if it can't produce at least a Billion Dollars.

How many people new in the tech industry can produce even half of a billion dollars?

This is why a lot of start-ups will remain start-ups forever. While the industry isn't saturated, getting in requires a lot of brainpower that only a few possess.

However, with all this, we're living in the most decayed generation our parents could ever imagine and young people who should let their minds run free are held back by a society that's running backwards.

Freedom comes from the simplest of things. From having fun because you can to taking a leap of faith and changing your discipline because your parents believe you should be a lawyer.

How free are you? Do you take those random risks or are you drawn back by one misdirected source of morality?

Thanks for reading?
