I set a pretty high target for myself at the beginning of this year. The first quarter of the year came to an end a few days ago. I looked at my benchmark for the year and I realised I had made a very limited amount of progress from when the year started. It wasn't a happy moment for me. My year went downhill after I purchased a new phone, I guess. I got so sad and I felt I needed to replace what I spent as soon as possible and when I couldn't I almost gave up but being in the situation I'm in, giving up might equate to my death.

Towards the end of last year, I wrote this post about my target of 10,000 HBD by the end of the year and while it seemed realistic then, it feels like an unreachable target right now.

My plan was to gather up all the liquidity I could muster, including any major fiat I didn't have an immediate need for, convert to HBD and just save. I had this plan because I had a need for some stable coins but I couldn't get any.

Well, Q1 is over and so far I don't have up to 100 HBD in savings. My productivity has been licking earth for a while now and to an extent, I feel ashamed. I know this can happen to anyone but I really had high hopes for this year.

I also had the plan to learn new skills this year and so far I've made progress with that. I planned on being stable enough to take jobs in design by the end of Q2 but my friend is trying o see how he can get me my first design job by the end of this month, at most. I also got accepted for a program where I'm being paid $2 every week to learn this same skill.

So, I had 2 major plans for this year. One doesn't seem to be panning out properly, while the other one seems to be on steroids. In the last couple of weeks, I also added a few more plans for the year, including relocating to a nearby African country.

My friend and I had to make a compromise recently and since we know we can't afford to completely leave the continent yet, we decided to move to a saner environment we can both afford. It's still going to be an expensive move but it's a lot cheaper than our other options.

How well my relocation plan can work is mostly dependent on my ability to gather as much HBD as I possibly can. I thought I would have to reduce my target for the year but I think I'll maintain it and focus on more possible ways to gather funds.

The Q2 plan

For this second quarter, I'm going to have to get my productivity back from under the mud and work a little more on my Hive earnings, writing earnings and getting my design earnings up and running.

For 2 months now, I've been writing only 3 freelance articles a month, now I'll be upping that number to 5. My Hive daily engagement is a MUST and I have to earn my first $500 from design within this same quarter.

These may not get me to even 5000 HBD but they'll push me a lot farther than I am at the moment. I need to do more and the first step is accepting that I've messed up and now I have a somewhat proper plan. Next, I just need to get moving. Luckily for me, I have an accountability partner who doesn't take my bullshit excuses.

I believe I can meet my target for the year. I can't wait to give a better progress report at the beginning of Q3.

Cheers! And wish me luck.
