Quitting is a habit.

Most current users understand that building an audience, growing stake, becoming trustworthy and gaining credibility are essential things for rewards, they also realize that all of those things often goes hand in hand with each other. You can't have one or the other.

You can't get followers if you're not active and you won't grow your stake if you're not active or if you don't buy stake.. It's logical, but some people complain despite those simple facts.

I heard the other day that someone had said that "it's too late" to join LeoFinance. I assume it was much due to the initial air drop of tokens, that obviously gave the wealthiest users the most tokens..

Even though that is true to some extent, as those who had pal tokens got the same amount of LEO, it doesn't necessarily mean that the 'wealthiest' got the most. It basically means that everyone with pal got LEO tokens, but most people probably sold them, while some users decided to keep them.

  • How about the next LeoFinance?

When a new community comes a long and air drop tokens for anyone with LEO tokens for instance. That gives you a big chance, as long as you hold.. But you won't have a single token if you decide to leave or give up. Quitting is not a route to success. Quitting is the route to another project in life, which you will most likely give up on as well.. Because truth is: quitters quit.

  • That's what they are good at.

I did not hold on to any of my LEO tokens, because the truth is that I was ignorant. I did not believe in the project, and I haven't really been a firm believer in either Steem or Hive for a rather long period of time for various reasons. I think we have focused on the wrong things for years and I 'gave up' as well..

I don't complain though, because that was my decision. No one ever told me to leave or to sell. I did that and for whatever reason it might have been, it doesn't matter. To sell my LEOs was still my own decision at the end of the day. I could've been active from the very first day, but I ignored the opportunity.

  • That was my fault. It was my mistake. It was my decision.

Since I started to become active on LeoFinance, roughly 5 weeks ago, I have been passionate, motivated and captivated. I have more energy, more drive and I feel good. I can truly say that I love to be part of LeoFinance and I have no issues at all working my way up. The initial air drop could've made things easier for me, personally, but I don't care about that at all. It doesn't even hurt a little bit because I was in no position to handle LeoFinance (Steem-leo) at that time.

I want to be a part of LeoFinance, and even though I am still skeptic of many things regarding Hive, I believe in LEO. So, instead of spending time thinking about all the mistakes I've done or that we have seen in the past, I focus on today. I focus on now and I focus on things that are good..

  • I focus on LeoFinance.

That focus yields great things. Things like motivation and energy. It gives me a reason to be active and to contribute. It gives me a reason to engage and best of all, I have fun.

The last thing I think about is the rewards, and I say that proudly. Look, my goal is to reach 3000 LEO before the end of this year. That is my first stepping stone. 5K, 10K or who knows, perhaps I'll even go for 100K at some point.. But I need to focus on the first stepping stone before anything else. I love to be rewarded for my contributions but I expect nothing.

That is one of the best things about this entire adventure. I obviously care about rewards, stake and growth, but I don't spend time thinking about it. Instead, I think about new content to share and search for content to comment and curate. I focus on positive things, as that is how I keep myself motivated.

The result from being consistent is growth and rewards, and that is vital for your success. You can't expect the world for nothing. You can't compare yourself with other authors. You can't compare your results with others. You can't compare your content with other authors.

That is a quitters habit, because you are literally searching for a good enough excuse to give up. You are not being rewarded enough, so you quit. You don't get enough comments so you quit. You don't have- or get whatever, it all ends with you giving up.

I read this post, a post that is very similar to other posts we have seen many times before..

"So tell me why I shouldn't get rewarded for my hard work?"

This person basically complain about the rewards, and that he is not rewarded for his "hard work". As I have been here for 4+ years, since the early days of Steem, I decided to comment his post.

Before I did that, I actually looked at his statistics and I calculated the amount of pending rewards.

I quickly found out that he had made 13 posts and 36 comments during the last 9 days. That equates to an average of 4 comments per day, which is 6 less than what we currently, with Initiative 10 is trying to achieve on average per user.

However, he had pending rewards of 52.98 LEO from those 13 articles and 15.12 LEO from the comments.

That equates to an average of 4.07 LEO per article and 0.41 LEO per comment. While this is not as good results as some other Lions have, it still equates to a total of: 13.18 USD.

Almost $14 for 9 days of "hard work", making 13 posts and 36 comments. I have never earned $14 from Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and I have probably made a few thousand of posts in total over the years I've been active.. So $14 should definitely be seen as good results.

$14 every 9th day equates to about ~$45 per month.

  • When did $45 extra per month become something bad?
  • It seems like we might have misunderstood this author though, as he was not trying to complain. He states that he was trying to teach others to not give up.

Regardless if that is being true or not, and it might very-well be true, this is literally the same thing others are talking about before they give up. We have seen this and similar things many times before.

People have high expectations and consider themselves to be worthy of rewards only based on the facts that other authors have good results. - That mindset and approach is literally a shortcut to giving up.

I joined Steem in July 2016. I have had minor breaks for various reasons, but I have made a total of 9315 posts according to some of the stats I can see. I don't know if that is entirely accurate or not, but we'll go with that number for now.

I joined in July 2016, so it's about 1600 days ago. More or less. That equates to 5.8 posts per day, over the course of 1600 days in total.

According to some stats I can see on hivetasks, I have all time author rewards of 17,944 HP and curation rewards of 403 HP. So, if we divide my author rewards with the amount of posts, we get: 1.92.

1.92 HP x 5.8 (which is the average amount of posts per day) = 11.172

That is the average amount of Hive/Steem I have earned per day since I joined in July 2016.

5.8 posts per day for 1600 days straight turned into 17,944 HP.

I still to this day, am not being rewarded for everything I do. I don't get upvotes on all my comments and I am not a "top author" by any means.. But here we are, standing in front of people who've been here for 9 days, telling us that they are about to give up because they aren't being rewarded enough?

It's a crazy world we live in..

Those who stay have the chance of changing their lives. If you quit you are leaving that chance and opportunity on the table for someone else. The decision is yours.
