Murphy's Laws - Las leyes de Murphy

In the 1950s, a space engineer named Edward Aloysius Murphy formulated his famous law with the following statement: "If something can go wrong, it will go wrong."

Subsequently and following similar reasoning clearly pessimistic, other postulates were added, most of them tend to be funny, although when the law is complied with, the victim does not receive any graces.

This seems to be what has happened today with the launch of the virtual wallet so promoted by the government of El Salvador to comply with the law that declares bitcoin legal tender and that precisely today comes into force.

The Chivo Wallet (such is the name chosen and about which I already spoke in a previous publication), began to work at 5 AM on 9/7/2021 but a couple of hours later it had to be disconnected due to serious failures, attributed to the capacity of the servers dedicated to serving transactions.

Probably the gift that the government made to all the inhabitants of the legal age of crediting their accounts with the equivalent of US $ 30 in BTC was the trigger for the problem since they all wanted to download, install the application and check their balance.

In the previous days, there was a great euphoria on the part of the government promoting the aforementioned wallet, so much so that they published complaints in the bird's application due to the delay of the large download companies Google, Huawei, and Apple to deploy the application an make it available to the Salvadoran public. handling of the wallet.

As I have mentioned in other posts, there were and are detractors who warn that the government is exposing state assets to too volatile a currency. The wallet is called “Chivo” because that expression in El Salvador indicates that something is good, those who are against it have promoted the hashtag #noeschivo precisely to indicate that the government's decision has not been the best.

And as if to endorse that Murphy's laws work, just today bitcoin has had a 10% retraction at its price.

Looking for another of Murphy's laws that adapt to this situation not wanted by the particular president of the Republic, Mr. Nayib Bukele, I found several that are perfectly adapted: “Nothing is so bad that it cannot get worse” or “If they exist several things that can go wrong, the one that causes the worst damage will always go wrong ”but the one I liked the most is this:“ the toast will always fall on the side of the jam ”.

Esto parece ser que es lo que ha ocurrido hoy con el lanzamiento de la billetera virtual tan promocionada por el gobierno de El Salvador para dar cumplimiento a la ley que declara al bitcoin moneda de curso legal y que justamente hoy entra en vigencia.

La Chivo Wallet (tal es el nombre elegido y sobre el que ya hablé en una publicación anterior), comenzó a funcionar a las 5AM horas del día 7/9/2021 pero un par de horas después debió ser desconectada por graves fallas, atribuidas a la capacidad de los servidores dedicados a atender las transacciones.

Probablemente el regalo que hizo el gobierno a todos los habitantes mayores de edad de acreditarles en sus cuentas el equivalente a u$S 30 en BTC fue el disparador del problema ya que todos querían bajar, instalar la aplicación y consultar su saldo.

En los días previos hubo una gran euforia por parte del gobierno promocionando la mencionada billetera, tanto que publicaron quejas en la aplicación del pajarito por la demora de las grandes compañías de descarga Google, Huawei y Apple en poner a disposición del público salvadoreño la aplicación de manejo de la billetera.

Como he mencionado en otras publicaciones, hubo y hay detractores que advierten que el gobierno está exponiendo activos del estado a una moneda demasiado volátil. La billetera se llama “Chivo” debido a que esa expresión en El Salvador indica que algo es bueno, los que están en contra han promocionado el hashtag #noeschivo justamente para indicar que la decisión del gobierno no ha sido de lo mejor.

Y como para refrendar que las leyes de Murphy funcionan, justamente hoy el bitcoin ha tenido una retracción del 10% en su cotización.

Buscando otra de las leyes de Murphy que se adapten a esta situación no querida por el particular presidente de la República, el Sr. Nayib Bukele, encontré varias que se adaptan perfectamente: “Nada está tan mal que no pueda empeorar” o “Si existen varias cosas que pueden salir mal, siempre saldrá mal la que cause peor daño” pero la que más me gustó es esta: “la tostada siempre caerá del lado de la mermelada”.
