Let’s say you really want a specific stock, but you think it’s a little bit too expensive at current prices. What do you do? You can sell a Put Option for a strike price at the desired price. The seller will keep the premium, no matter what, and if the stock price it’s at or below the strike price at expiration are obligated to buy.

It’s a win-win. You get to keep the premium no matter what happens, and you might get own the stock at your desired price!

Sure there is the downside, but if you really believe in the Stock, it is extremely limited!
