The six c's of communication was one of the sub-topics under communication we discussed during my human resource class in Uni and it was one of my favourite topics. I am going to talk about them in relation to content creation.

Social Media happens to be one of the most instrumental tools of the 21 century. It has championed various technological, financial and political advancement. It has made the world a global village, something we are beginning to take for granted. I find it fascinating that from the comfort of my home I can reach out to people across the globe in realtime. With the advent of 5G we might see a drastic leap in terms of social engagement on the virtual sphere. More people are engaging cross tHe globe rapidly and it is imperative that we not only modernise but also improve our communication skills in other to benefit from the opportunities that come with these sort of advancements.

I would argue that the best communicators are going to be the most influential people of the 21 century. Your ability to sell your self, ideas, etc to people will determine your revenue. I have seen people turn attention into multi-million dollar businesses. I have friends who are full-time influencers and content creators (i am a content creator) and they are financially and creatively free.

Getting people's attention seems to be one of the hardest task given there are different things competing for the same attention. But with the right communication tools and orientation, we can achieve this.

I will quickly go over the 6 C's of communication.

Consideration

I have often heard people say things like, 'I create content for myself'. I have seen this mindset propagate on decentralised platforms like ours. I call it mechanical social mining--create content and generate cryptocurrency. This inevitable leads to poor engagement. If people genuinely feel they can generate economic rewards from anti-social activities, they would.

As a content creator, your audience is your customer. You run a business of creating content and the two best ways to evaluate the quality of your product(content) is through the social and economical value it generates.

You need to know and understand the needs of your audience. It would silly to write about love and relationship on LeoFinance. Secondly, the people most likely to read this post are Leofinance members, they are my major priority. Putting all these factors together, i create content that appeals to my audience.

Clarity, Coherence Conciseness and Correctness

These are different things but i will like to tag them together as they are closely related.

Clarity. Now you know who your audience are, the next step is to create content that they understand and appreciate. I always go with the simple language approach for clarity sake. However, I have noticed that people tend to overcompensate the need to be clear by overexplaining things. I have made it a principle never to go over the 1000 words threshold. I personally don't read anything above 1000 words. If you want in-depth knowledge on a subject then grab a book. The years of macro blogging are over. Micro b(v)logging apps like Twitter and Instagram have become the new norm. So your task as a content creator is to be as concise as possible. Edit your content several times before posting (i should take my own advice)--Correctness. Lastly, make sure you're making sense. Your entire piece should be coherent. It helps to take notes and structure your content.

Confidence

Writing content is a form of expression. It is imperative that you come across as confidence. Never speak on things you have little or no knowledge about. Confidence comes with knowing what you are saying, so do your research.

I hope you found this post useful. I would like to see how these 6 C's impact other spheres (programming, business, etc), so share with me in the comment section.
