The human brain seizes its ability to think rationally whenever free money is mentioned or involved. Not just free money, I think outrageous money making opportunities make the human brain seize its rational thinking abilities. Most times when things like this happen, it only takes self discipline to control your reasoning. That’s the reason lots of people fall for scammers everyday. Although some of them might just be a matter of wrong timing. I can relate because it has happened to me.

There was a time I needed some money to do my school project when I was in college because, the money my dad gave me to do my project, I invested it on bytecoin(BCN). Some of you who has been in crypto space for a long time should remember the BCN pump. Yep!! I was among the people that got wrecked with BCN pump and dump. I wanted to buy a new phone but couldn’t afford it, so I decided to invest my project money on BCN hoping it will give me 100% profit. This 100% profit will help me buy my new phone and do my school project. I invested all my money on BCN, setting a take profit and not a stop loss. I decided not to check my portfolio for weeks, hoping that the next time I logged in, I will be seeing $400.

I came a week later and saw $10, yep!! My money went from $200 to $10, the coin dumped so hard that my profit started reading in -1000%. Wow!! That was supposed to be my school project’s money and i was a Newbie in the crypto space. At that moment I was desperate and ready to try out anything to make sure I made the money back.

I got a message from one of these Instagram scammers that told me he was going to convert my $30 to $300. 😂 at that moment my brain forgot to think rationally and all I could think of was “wow!! This is the messiah sent to solve my problem”. Well the story ended with me being duped. Talking about free money and not thinking rationally. At that moment all my brain was thinking of was possibility of making free money with little capital. This scammer was successful because I was in a dire situation.

But aside that, I have learnt to discipline my mind from dwelling and being over reliant on free money including airdrop. The human brain automatically makes plan on free money they haven’t gotten yet with the hope of getting it. For instance, the Spk airdrop snapshot was done yesterday, and am sure that lots of people have already made plans on how they were going to spend the money on, hence raising their hopes so high. You see people giving so much expectations on it, and like I have always reminded myself “Expectations gives room for disappointment”.

It’s free money, have free mind towards it, lower your expectations. But it seems like the human brain at times gives higher expectations to free money that when they don’t get it, they end up feeling sad. This is because a part of the human brain has created a mental imagination of what they will do with the money that will make them so happy because they didn’t work for the money. This is the reason I don’t promise people money, I just give them without making the promise so they don’t feel disappointed when I fail.
