The Internet Is Being Upgraded
I will start by saying “What a time to be Alive”, this is what I think about each day I wake up and pick up my phone. It’s happening in our very own eyes, my Twitter feed is filled with a lot of Web 3.0 enthusiasts who are particularly protesting that they want the Web 3.0 sooner. You can’t go a day on social media without seeing cryptocurrency discussion or advert on your news feed. This just shows how lucky we are to be present as the world is stepping into a new revolution.
This is how the internet is being upgraded, we realize that organizations and structures are drifting towards being more decentralized than centralized. This is because centralized only favors the people at the top. But decentralization favors everyone involved. Companies are being upgraded by incorporating DAO.
DAO stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It’s a blockchain automated decision making program that eliminates errors and bias and it’s done from the bottom up.
For a community to run smoothly there need to be trust, as humans we find it hard to trust people especially when money and resources are involved. With DAO, trust becomes the least of your problems. This is because an autonomous code has been created and the whole party involved in the company trust the code, so this makes it easier to run a company because it must have been thoroughly tested before launch.
Communities are not left out, to be upgraded, lots of communities are need to be tokenized. We have seen the case in the Reddit community, we have seen that in football fan tokens ,we have seen that in splinterlands( the creation of SPS) and we are seeing it in our Hive community. These tokens are utility tokens that are used by the community for governance decisions, when you hold and posses these tokens you can vote for a decision that will have an impact in the community. This way we don’t have a haphazard decision making attitude or have a centralized entity making decisions for the full community. Also these tokens can be used for engagements.
Logins and social media are also not left out in this revolution. We are gradually seeing logins upgrading from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. Our login wallets have been upgraded to Web 3.0 wallets also. We have Decentralized wallets. These are the effects of internet being upgraded.
The video game is my best part of the internet being upgraded. We are about to say “ gone are those days where I spend money to play video games” and “I have earned lots of money playing this game”.I saw on Twitter about someone who bought a car for her mother in law playing splinterlands and staking SPS. This is mind blowing and revolutionary. People are beginning to kick poverty away from their lives because they are earning from having fun. We have lots of play to earn right now. Hive has lots of that, we have the splinterlands, we have the Dcrop, Dcity and Rabona.
Art is another sector that is getting a massive upgrade from the internet. With NFTs we have seen lots of arts and media valued for a lot of money. Minting NFTs is upgrading the art and media sector.
Most importantly, payments have been upgraded with the creation of cryptocurrency. We can now send money cheaper and faster with it.
