I'm sitting here thinking about just how far I've come in this journey called life. Thinking back to my childhood being raised in a single parent family, thinks looked awfully bleak at that time, so much so, that I'm glad to be where I am today.

Our household was always short on food, and there were many times that the utilities were turned off, and we had to do our homework by the light of a flickering candle. My mother never wanted to get married, so we lacked that crucial second income that would have given us some much-needed financial breathing room.

Pushing beyond limitations

Growing up in this environment instilled in me a singular desire to get out of this hopeless existence. Many of the people in my neighborhood seemed to almost wallow in what I call a "Poverty of the mind." No desire to grow into something better, while casting a bitter eye at anyone else who did.

While we didn't have much money, what we did have was a house filled with old books. It didn't seem to matter where we moved, either the attic or the basement was overflowing with dusty old tomes filled with knowledge. I can still remember lying on my bed in my quiet attic room, and reading one book after another. One of the things it ended up doing was to expose me to the big wide world outside the confines of my neighborhood.

While so many others were limited to thinking of ways to live off of the government, I was devouring tales of young kids my age who started out with nothing and through hard work and determination, grew into successful adults. This has helped me in business, crypto, and life. It was as if those books opened my mind to new possibilities that I might never have considered before.
