I was talking with a worker last week at a retail establishment who asked me what I did in my spare time. Sensing a nice and organic way to mention Hive, I told her that I blogged on the platform and explained how crypto earnings were incorporated into it.

Puzzled, she asked "why would anyone blog if you're not making money out of it?" and I told her that making money wasn't the principal concern when I arrived on the blockchain after having my content copied and stolen on Blogger.

I explained that it was nice to finally own my content, and witness the pure joy derived from creating something, where nothing existed before.

However, I could tell she wasn't getting it, and never would.

Why do some people paint, write poetry, or build amazing structures in Minecraft in their free time?

She couldn't grok the concept of doing something that scratched an intellectual itch and helped one grow as a person. In short, she couldn't understand Why We Blog.

But I know, and I'll bet you do too.

We all have our own reasons, but in every single one of us there's a beating heart propelling us down that road of creative fulfillment.

Crypto is the cherry on top.

Some people get it, others don't.

And that's fine, because the world is big enough to hold us all in her warm embrace. I'm just glad I found Hive in the nick of time. If just one of my posts has inspired someone or helped a person through a rough patch in their lives, it'll all have been worth it.

But for now, it's time for me to take another bite out of the big, juicy peach we call Hive, and continue my growth as a content creator at this special little place on the blockchain.
