The Real Truth About Success:

Success (the opposite of failure) is the status of having achieved and accomplished an aim or objective. Being successful means the achievement of desired visions and planned goals. On Hive, LeoFinance, POB, any other tribe or in the crypto-world itself, wealth (stake) is often what people refers to whenever they talk about being successful. You are successful when your bags are filled, or when you are being "heavily-rewarded" for whatever article you publish on Hive. A combination of the two is more often than not the perfect example- or description of a successful content creator on Hive.

My previous post I wrote was called: "Long Term Thinking Doesn't Necessarily Mean Staking & Holding." and it brought some attention towards this. Again. As it usually does whenever someone includes the slightest information about rewards or distribution.

"My posts are usually earning 20-30 cents." "The rich gets richer" "Poor people doesn't earn"

We've seen this before, more than once. In fact, I have probably seen some variations of this sentence a handful of times each day since I joined back in July 2016. People blame the system in one way or another. They compare themselves with others. They compare pending rewards. They compare stake.

  • It seems that people often compare just to complain.

There have been hundreds of discussions and articles about this specific subject and I have talked about it in the past as well. More than once. It seems to always be a hot topic though, so there's always room for a new, updated version or more discussions about it. Perhaps even more nowadays when we have different tribes and communities as well. We're on boarding new users and it's important to educate those around us. People join for the rewards, so it's important to talk about how you get your hands on them..

There will always be those who try to get things for free. We have people begging for votes. We have people trying the "vote-for-vote" buddy-system or the "follow-for-follow" system as well.

We have scammers and plagiarists and even though they can be "successful" and pull off a scam or earn rewards for a blatant copy/pasted article, that will not work long term.

People are often looking for shortcuts and it takes them in the wrong direction. Hive is not built to offer livelihood for everyone in the world, even though Hive has the potential to change lives.

Before you complain about rewards, ask yourself WHY:

  • Why do you deserve upvotes?
  • Why should you get upvotes instead of others?

In a nutshell, people want to support those who support others. If you cash out everything you earn, never interact with anyone, ignore your audience etc, you will not be supported. That's just how it is.

I have powered down, cashed out and whatever multiple times since I joined in July 2016. I am still rewarded for my contributions. I have never been the most-rewarded user and some of my articles are more rewarded than others I make, but that's just how things are. I have never lost all support because I have been contributing for several years.

I have shared personal stories, photos, optimized content, gaming articles and whatever. You name it. I have pushed people into minnow-hood with various projects and initiatives. I have done a lot of different things during the years I have been here, like you can expect from someone who has been here for 5 years.

However, if I start to compare myself with others, I can easily see how much they earn or the amazing amount of tokens they have in their wallets. Some of them have bought stake, so they have risked their own money going into this. Some of them have been more active than me or have been able to grow a larger audience than me. Some of them have never powered down or cashed out.

Why they have more (or less) than me doesn't really matter, because I am successful in my own way. I have made friends and I have been able to stay on Hive for 5 years. I have used my stake in real life, stake I have earned or bought multiple times. I have sold during lows and during highs as well.

  • I have experienced the good times and the bad.

We are here for different reasons. We have different styles and approaches. We have different mindsets. We are different and that is perfectly okay. There's no guarantees for success just because you copy the style or approach of someone else. You need to find your own way. *You need to do your own thing.

  • Work hard.
  • Put in effort.
  • Share quality.

It sounds easy. It's not.

Hive takes time. It requires a lot of effort, blood, sweat and tears. No pain, no gain so to speak. You might have read a wonderful success-story and you want a piece of the pie as well..

  • Work For It!
