The clock is ticking and as we get older the reality that we are not going to be forever young and strong enough to keep working to pay the bills sets in gradually. That is why they say make hays while the sun shines. Therefore we should take advantage of the opportunities at our disposal while we still are capable.

But early retirement? 40 is the age most target, as we often hear "I want to retire at 40"

Lazing around on the sofa with legs stretched out on the table with a coffee or tea mug is what comes to mind when I think of retirement, or it could be on the beach under the umbrella watching the beautiful ladies in their bikinis wishing I am younger but have to remind my old self, it's okay my younger days are over. Perhaps it could be traveling provided the funds are available to finance the holiday trips.

I am in my early 40s and far from going to lie on the beach, unfortunately, I have a lot to do to make sure I am not the state's or family's baby as I grow older.

So when we talk retirement and I am to retire now, my view of retirement which is basically to laze around, and have a repetitive routine will bore me to death. I am naturally the busy type, I want to get things done without procrastinating, I am the type when involved in a common goal with you gets irritated when you keep postponing what needs to be done.

Maybe if we approach the retirement thing in relation to freedom we might get some direction.

We all seek freedom in every aspect of our lives, including financial freedom which is one of the most important freedoms we seek. Achieving financial freedom comes with having to earn income at one's terms and conditions, I get out of bed when I want, attend meetings when it pleases me, etc.

So looking back at retirement, it doesn't necessarily translate to lazing around, it does require elements of freedom to retire successfully. The body requires staying active for good health, so I could retire and work not because I am forced to due to financial constraints but because I can work at free will and keep the money flowing in.

I'd rather have retirement pan out with me engaging in activities I enjoy that increase the size of my account than laze around with the same routine every day.

Ultimately this is where wealth creation comes in, to birth the freedom and retirement we seek.

We owe it to ourselves to make Hive great
