Greetings to leofinance community. I am so delighted to participate in this contest by @leogrowth. It is very interesting to take part, just to share the value of HBD in my hometown - Uyo, Nigeria.

I am @peckypeace is from Akwa lbom State, Nigeria. I just concluded my first 365 days on Hive. I have been earning HBD so far and I have used it to cover several aspects of my personal and family budget.

As a woman, the social construct for us here demands that I must be prudent in management of resources, especially, kitchen affairs. While I have used my earned HBD for my school fees, books, clothing, food, I decided to go shopping for foodstuffs for the sake of this contest.

This is my local market, where foodstuffs are sold.

Before I left to the market, I made a list of what I wanted to buy. The foodstuffs was for cooking our native Afang Soup. It was a low budget for a house of 3 persons and the soup was sufficient for Three meals.

The initial budget for the foodstuffs was NGN 7,700 (worth 14.5 HBD). However, we are used to prices inflation and I had to go to the market with at least 20 HBD (NGN 10,690). Everyday, our Naira currency keeps losing value to USD. Each time you're going to the market, you must always carry nan extra cash with you, else you get shocked each time by the prices change upwards. However, this makes a person like me look like a rich girl since my HBD would always amount to about NGN 500.

Below is the screenshot of the HBD to Naira conversion on an exchange.

There were other things I wanted to buy but I couldn't. Had it been I didn't go with luxury I would have trek home.

I would love to show leofinance community The pictures of goods I purchased at my local market.

A handful of Sliced Afang leaves = NGN 700 = 1.31 HBD

small Stock fish head = NGN 500 = 0.94 HBD

A handful of Water leaves = NGN 500 = 0.94 HBD

1 kg defeathered chicken = NGN 3,000 = 5.63 HBD The chicken was initially budgeted for NGN 1,500 (2.81 HBD)

Unshelled periwinkle = NGN600 = 1.12 HBD

Crayfish = NGN 500 = 0.94 HBD

Fresh pepper = NGN 200 = 0.37 HBD (It wasn't included in the list.)

Salt, Maggi, red oil = NGN 1,400 = 2.63 HBD

Total prices of things bought was NGN 9,400 (17.8 HBD)

I am a young person who doesn't like eating in restaurant unless someone wants to buy for me. I am a cook, so I can handle kitchen stuff instead of spending money outside to eat.

Here, in Akwa lbom State, price of goods are extremely high, to the point I can't bargain. At times I would left a grocery shop or my local market angry because of price range.

Yesterday, I went to mini shop to purchase goods for breakfast.
These are the Nigerian Naira (NGN) notes I used to buy the stuffs.

As I write this post, In Akwa lbom State, 10 Naira is almost valueless, you can't buy anything with 10 Naira any more. 20 Naira is now used to buy a sachet of water that cannot even quench a thirst.

Things has really changed in my hometown. Things are not working the way it should be. Gone are the days, a land would be purchased at 100,000 NGN (188 HBD), today it is not so. From millions up before you purchased it.

I remember my Clothing I obtained for 24 HBD

This was not supposed to be a part of this write, since I had access to the pictures of the recent clothes I purchased for my choir concert with my HBD earnings, I decided to share.

Last month, we had youth choir concert in my church and the choir were asked to sow new uniforms. I sown "maroon gown and sky blue gown". These are the uniforms. Both cost 24 HBD (NGN 12,750) to purchase the fabric and to sew them.

I had to buy the fabric, lining, accessories separately and then pay the seamstress that sew it for me.

I am happy that I do not just earn HBD on Hive as a monument money., I use it daily to cover my personal budget and it has been so relieving.

Thank you for having a read.
